TOPEKA, KS- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today endorsed Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins in her re-election bid for the 2nd Congressional District. In 1994, Gingrich led the Republican Revolution in returning the US House to Republican Leadership.
Gingrich stated, "Lynn Jenkins is a leader in a new wave of conservative members of Congress who are sticking to their core principles of lower taxes, smaller government, and conservative values. Her background as a CPA and as a leader in the fight against wasteful spending will be vital in fixing the damaging effects of President Obama and Speaker Pelosi's stimulus, bailouts, and healthcare bills."
Congresswoman Jenkins said, "I am grateful to have the support of such a respected conservative leader and visionary. Americans have spoken loud and clear: they are tired of the liberal agenda dominating Washington. 2nd District residents have my pledge that I will fight to make sure government is smaller and smarter."
Gingrich joins a growing list of endorsements for Jenkins' re-election campaign including U.S Senators Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts, U.S Congressmen Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt, 8 State Senators representing the 2nd District, 14 State Representatives representing the 2nd District, the NRA, Kansas Farm Bureau, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, REALTORS PAC, the American Conservative Union, as well as national conservative leaders, Congressman Mike Pence and Congressman Jeff Flake.
