Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins was joined by Tobias Schlingensiepen and Dennis Hawver at a candidate forum in Basehor which was hosted by the Basehor Library and VFW.
Once again, the issue of Obamacare was a major topic of discussion. During the primary, Tobias Schlingensiepen was on record for saying he supports a single payer healthcare system. But like previous forums and debates during the general election season, Tobias Schlingensiepen refused to state a position of support or opposition to the President's healthcare law. He ran down a list of aspects that he liked and then aspects that he disliked. Absent was whether he supported or opposed the legislation.
Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins said, “I think everyone knows my position quite well, I oppose the President’s healthcare law and have voted in every opportunity to repeal and replace it.”
Tobias Schlingensiepen’s continual refusal to take a stand on a healthcare bill that affects the way every Kansan receives healthcare is not acceptable and it highlights a gross inability to lead on an issue that demands leadership.
